The tour starts with a visit at the ruins of the Doric city of Lato, lying between two hills with astonishing views over the Mirambello Bay. We will continue to the 15thc church of Panagia Kera, to admire its magnificent frescoes, and then visit the village of Kritsa, with its picturesqe alleys and houses. Driving towards the east, we will visit Gournia, set on a hill at the isthmus of Ierapetra. It is one of the most characteristic Minoan settlements, called “Pompeii of Minoan Crete” because of its excellent state of preservation. Our tour will end at the small fishing village of Mochlos. Separated by a steep road, winding gently down from the highway, it enjoys a perfect waterfront setting, with an array of simple tavernas and a sandy beach. The view of the tiny islet opposite with its archaeological remains, which many swim to, adds to the quiet appeal.
