Milia is an old cluster of stone cottages set on a remote position, at the end of a country road, near the village of Vlatos, in NW Crete. The place was restored from ruin and brought back to life by two eco-minded locals and with the aid of the EU, to feature 13 independent rooms and a spacious communal dining room. Rooms are simple, yet cosy, comfortable and atmospheric. Electricity is generated from solar panels, gas-fired boilers heat water, waste is recycled and the project is complemented with biological farming. Amenities provided are minimal and the retreat offers a chance for peace, tranquility and experimentation. A place for nature lovers who will enjoy the organic, home-grown food, country hikes, stunning views and total serenity.
